Obituary of Sara Earlene Wiley Grisham

Sara Earlene Wiley Grisham, 91, of Iuka, Mississippi, left this earthly life for a heavenly home on Sunday, July 21, 2024. She passed away at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Earlene was born in Colbert County, Alabama, on February 7, 1933, to Freeman C. Wiley and Lois Elliott Wiley of Cherokee, AL. She graduated from Cherokee Vocational High School in 1951. Earlene was a faithful Christian mother and wife. As a member of Iuka Methodist Church for over 58 years, she served as a children’s Sunday School teacher for many years. Earlene was a teacher, social worker, and Iuka Center Director for the Iuka Headstart program for over 25 years.

She was dearly loved and survived by her husband of 73 years, V. W. Grisham; three sons, Robert Grisham (Sharlene), Truman Grisham (Katie), and Barry Grisham (Rita); and two daughters, Nancy White and Ginger Martindale (Kent). Her grandchildren will greatly miss the love, cooking, and attention of their “Granny.” They include Josh Grisham, Seth Grisham, Ethan Grisham, Angel Grisham, Kristy Hyde, Timmy Lewis, Brad White, Lauren Pruitt, Ashley Hill, Derek Martindale, Meredith Childs, and Erin Martindale. She was also loved and will be missed by her great-grandchildren, Sara Grisham, Emily Grisham, Effie Grisham, Henry Grisham, Dylan Miller, Maddox Hyde, Kylan Hyde, Zoey Hyde, Evie Hyde, Tatum Pruitt, Eli Pruitt, Cole Pruitt, Arlo White, Archie White, Aly Hamrick, Hannah Martindale, and Avery Childs. In addition, Earlene will also be remembered by many friends and her special home caregivers, Don and Sandy Harrell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Larkin Cross; two brothers, Sam Wiley and Freeman C. Wiley, Jr.; two sisters, Mildred Leidecker and Joyce Eskridge; and a son-in-law, Larry White.

Cutshall Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for 12:00 until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, at Iuka Methodist Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, at Iuka Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Dallas Culver and Rev. Harrell Moore. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Alan Cutshall, Charles Emmons, and Don Harrell.
