Tishomingo School recently held ceremonies to honor the decades of service of two former coaches, Dr. Danny McClung & Mr. Anthony Stone. On Saturday, June 15, 2024, current faculty and staff, former students, community, and family members along with the school district superintendent and school board members came together to celebrate these men who have served the school and community so faithfully.

The day began with a gathering in the new gymnasium for a renewal of acquaintances. At 10:00 am, the ceremony started with a welcome by Mr. Casey James prior to the dedication of the basketball court. Superintendent Mrs. Christie Holly offered remarks and read the first biography. Guest speakers for this dedication included Mr. Casey James, Mr. Corey Bennett, and Mr. Jalen Stone followed by remarks from Mr. Anthony Stone. A plaque presentation was made by Mrs. Christie Holly, Mr. Andy Deaton, and Mr. Casey James to officially designate the basketball court as the Anthony “Rock” Stone Court.

The ceremony continued with the dedication of the gymnasium. Mrs. Holly returned to the podium to read the second biography of the day. Guest speakers for this dedication were Mr. Benny McClung and Mr. Philip Whitehead followed by a speech from Mr. Danny McClung. Mrs. Holly, Mr. Deaton, & Mr. James went forward to present the plaque to officially designate the gymnasium as the Danny McClung Gymnasium.

Closing remarks were made by Mr. Andy Deaton followed by a prayer. Cake and other refreshments were served as photographs were made and fellowship continued before the conclusion of the event as guests departed for the day.
