City of Iuka Holds Groundbreaking at Mineral Springs Park

IUKA, Miss - The City of Iuka Mayor and Board of Alderman have been working hard to improve the facilities at Mineral Springs Park.

Progress takes time, especially when efforts are underway to improve the park facilities.

Monday afternoon, Iuka Mayor, Board of Alderman, and Cook Coggin Representative Carroll Ivy were on hand for the groundbreaking of a new tennis court, basketball court, and addition of multiple pickleball courts.

These improvements are possible due to the City Special Projects Funds.

Construction will begin next week, with completion expected before the end of the year.

This endeavor would not be possible without the diligent work of the team at Cook Coggin Engineering.

"The upgrades to the courts at Mineral Springs Park offer our community more availability to exercise and increase our quality of life!" Alderwoman Emily Bell said. "When a community has options for recreation, we can increase the overall health effects, strengthen families, and build healthy communities."

The basketball court will be completely upgraded with striping. There will be one tennis court capable of changing into two pickleball courts. The other court will hold four pickleball courts with nets and striping. The tennis court will be striped for pickleball and tennis, along with a tennis court net. Players will need to provide their own net for these two pickleball courts.

This will be the first pickleball court in Tishomingo County.

Community members drive to out of town to play on the courts at their city park; with these upgrades, the City is providing quality courts for all ages.
