City hires Hollon as new public works director

The city of Iuka approved the promotion of Brad Hollon to Public Works Director at its regular first Tuesday meeting this week.

According to mayor Joel Robertson, Hollon has worked in the department for the city for sixteen years, so they anticipate an easy transition after Josh Clingan’s recent retirement from the position.

The board announced a volunteer opportunity: Operation Christmas Cleanup at Jay Bird and Mineral Spring Parks from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. this Saturday. Meet at Jay Bird Park Gazebo at 8 am.

In other actions, the board:

Approved transferring the Purchase Orders from the Public Works Department to the City Clerk’s Office and transferring the Meter Readers from the City Clerk’s Office to the Public Works Department, effective 01/04/23.

Approved APAC as the low Bid for Hot Mix and/or installation for 01/03/23 – 12/31/23.

Approved Nunley Trucking as the low Bid for Limestone Products for 01/03/23 –12/31/23.

Discussed Youth Center Rentals.

Discussed Power Access at Jay Bird Park.

Approved hiring Timothy Ham as a full-time employee with the Public Works Department, effective 01/04/23.
